Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. We collect only what we need to send your reminders — nothing more.
1. Who We Are
Train Genie ("we", "us", "our") operates traingenie.in and app.traingenie.in — an independent IRCTC booking reminder service. We are not affiliated with IRCTC or Indian Railways. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data required to deliver reminders: • Email address — to send you booking reminder emails. • Train route details (origin, destination, class, travel date) — to calculate your T-60 booking window. • Payment information — processed entirely by our payment provider (Razorpay). We never see or store your card details. • Usage analytics — anonymised page-view and event data via Google Tag Manager to improve the product. We never collect your IRCTC username, password, OTP, PNR, or any IRCTC account information.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to: • Send you WhatsApp reminders when your IRCTC booking window opens. • Calculate and display your T-60 dates accurately. • Respond to support requests you initiate. • Process subscription payments (via Razorpay). • Improve the Service using aggregated, anonymised analytics. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the core reminder service.
4. Email Reminders
Reminder emails are sent from Train Genie's transactional email service. Your email address is used solely to deliver booking alerts and essential account notifications. We do not use your address for marketing emails unless you have separately opted in. You can opt out at any time by deleting your routes in the app, using the unsubscribe link in any email, or contacting us at care@traingenie.in.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for delivering the Service: • Transactional email provider — reminder email delivery. • Razorpay — payment processing. • Google (Google Tag Manager / Analytics) — anonymised usage analytics. • Vercel — hosting infrastructure. All providers are contractually bound to process your data only as instructed and in compliance with applicable law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all route data and your phone number are deleted from our systems within 30 days. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Payment records are retained as required by Indian tax law (typically 7 years).
7. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses Google Tag Manager to load analytics scripts. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. No personal data is stored in cookies. You can block analytics tracking by enabling your browser's "Do Not Track" setting or using an ad blocker.
8. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Phone numbers and route data are stored in encrypted databases hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Access is restricted to authorised personnel only. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure — please report any suspected security issues to care@traingenie.in.
9. Children's Privacy
Train Genie is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will delete their data promptly.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate data. • Request deletion of your account and all associated data. • Withdraw consent to reminder emails at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at care@traingenie.in. We will respond within 7 business days.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you via WhatsApp or email before material changes take effect. The "Effective date" at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
